Appalachian Food Services Catering

ADVANCED PLANNING: In order to ensure that your event is successful and well organized, we prefer a two week notice. The cut-off day for accepting any functions for the following Saturday or Sunday is Wednesday by 5:00 P.M. We require a confirmation of the number attending two days prior to the scheduled event. This information helps us to plan for proper staffing and for an adequate amount of food to be ordered and prepared. The following information is needed by the Catering Coordinator when making arrangements for catering events:

DELIVERIES AND PICKUPS: Appalachian Food Services Catering offers complete pickup and delivery services. In order to provide quality service to the entire university community, delivery and pickups must occur as scheduled. This makes it possible to service all of our customers in a prompt manner. We do not have key access to non-food service facilities; therefore, all facilities and rooms should be unlocked for catering access prior to the start time for each event. There will be a Food Services delivery and set-up fee in the amount of $20.00 for each function.

FACILITIES: Appalachian Food Services can provide an area for your special event in Welborn Hall. Accommodations can be made for groups varying in size from 12 to 500, depending upon the availability at the time requested. Food must be purchased from our catering department in order to use any of Appalachian Food Services facilities. The Chancellor's Dining Room is available for booking through the Catering Coordinator at extension 6143. Only served breakfasts, luncheons and dinners may be held in this room. The Special Dining Room is available for groups of 24 or less.

EQUIPMENT: Replacement value will be charged for any equipment not returned following an event. Equipment must not leave the room of the function, or you will be charged full replacement fee. Any equipment moved to another area must be returned immediately. The customer is responsible for all equipment until returned or picked up by Appalachian Food Services personnel. If the customer chooses to have food placed on disposable trays, there will be an additional charge of $3.00.

There is an additional per hour labor charge for Food Services Employees to stay with a reception.  The charges are: $25.00 per Chef, $22.15 for a Catering Supervisor, and $18.50 for a Food Services Assistant.

LINENS: There will be a $1.00 linen charge per person. If extra table skirts are required, other than for food tables, there will be a $3.50 charge per skirt. Linen napkins charge is $.35 per napkin.

Price includes table cloths for buffet table only.

PAYMENTS: Arrangement for payment for all functions must be made with the Catering Coordinator upon placement of the order. If you are charging the function to a budget code, please have the budget code number available upon placing the order. Cash, check, express or meal cards are acceptable payments. All prices are subject to change.
