High Option  $1,135.00 per semester
Super Option  $1,380.00 per semester

The Low Option is not available to freshmen.
Please note that these meal plan options indicate the cost per semester.

All students living in residence halls are required to purchase a meal plan option. Students choose the plan they desire by selecting one of the available options each semester on their housing agreement. Residents of Appalachian Heights and Mountaineer Apartments are exempt from the meal option requirement, but they may choose an option if they desire.

First-year freshmen must choose the Standard, High or Super Option. The Low Option is not available to these students. All meal plan options are based on an a la carte service (priced separately); so that students have control over spending. Individual meal patterns will determine the most appropriate option for each student.

Students may change a meal plan option prior to bill payment by contacting the office of Appalachian Food Services at 262-3061. Meal options cannot be changed after a payment has been made.

FOOD OPTIONS ARE NOT DESIGNED TO PROVIDE FULL MEAL COVERAGE FOR A SEMESTER.

During the year, meal options may be purchased or balances increased in the AppCard Office in Trivette Hall from 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M., Monday - Friday. Parents may add to their student's meal account balances during the year by calling the AppCard Office and providing their credit card information. The telephone number for the AppCard Office is 828-262-6141.

AppCards with meal accounts are accepted in all ASU food service units, the Market, Crossroads Coffee House, all vending machines, and the Jackson Dining Room at The Broyhill Inn for food and non-alcoholic beverages.

Off-campus students may choose to purchase a meal plan option, or they may buy meals using their Appalachian Express account in all units of Appalachian Food Services. $20.00 is the minimum deposit that can be made to the Express account.

No meal account money may be transferred to the Appalachian Express Account.

What is the refund policy for Dining Plans?

Refunds will be made only in the case of official withdrawal from Appalachian during a semester.   The only refund granted is when the student goes through the official withdrawal process from the University and the money refunded will be from the current semester only. Money from the prior semester will not be refunded.   Account balances carry over from fall to spring semester.   Any balance left at the end of the spring semester is non-refundable , and it will not carry over into summer sessions.
