DIVISION 12 - FURNISHINGS



12000 General



All recommended models of furnishings shall have been installed for a minimum of two years at an educational facility. The designer shall provide a list of three such facilities with names and telephone numbers for review by the University. Unproven models will not be accepted. Users must indicate satisfaction with products and service. Require the contractor to provide a stock of replacement parts including, but not limited to, seats, backs, armrests, tablet arms, hinges, and other component parts. The stock shall be 5% of the number of installed items but at least 5 of each item.



12100 Floor Walk-off Mats



Recessed entry mats shall be provided inside each entrance to the building. These mats shall be of the type which is removable for cleaning and should be of outdoor/exterior quality. Recesses shall be of even footage sizes to accommodate factory stocked mats. Prefer one side to be 6 feet so new mats can be cut from a 6' x 50' roll.

Use Cobblestone, Arrowhead, Kara Mat, or Protector (or equivalent) heavy duty wiper/scraper 3/8" thickness pile with ½ inch total height. Constructed from 50 ounces of 100% polypropylene per square yard, using a unique blend of heavy denier fibers double loc coated for superior mat performance, level loop pile or V-Loop double needled. Backing composed of a non-skid rubber, coated with a fire retardant latex for maximum safety and carry a three year wear warranty.

Note: Cocoa Mats are not acceptable.

Sizes available: 3'x 6', 4'x 6', 3'x 10', and 4'x 10'.

12200 Window Treatment



Specify metal one inch style mini slat blinds for all exterior windows.





12300 Cabinetry



All casework to include doors and drawer fronts shall be of balanced construction. Balanced construction for the purpose of this directive is defined as being dimensionally equal from the center to the exterior on both sides. As an example if plywood with laminate is used, the center ply can be of any thickness but the plies on each side of it must be the same thickness and of the same specie of wood, with additional plies arranged the same way. When laminate is used on one side of doors and drawers fronts it must be applied on the other side and be of the same thickness and adhered in the same manner.
