Hazardous Chemical Spills

The ASU Hazardous Chemical Spill Response Policy explains what to do in case of a chemical spill at ASU.

Guidelines for the Safe Cleanup of Mercury Spill Cleanups in the Home gives practical, step-by-step guidelines for a small spill at home in an easy to read, printable format. The U.S. EPA provides similar information here in an online format, along with links to detailed health information and to state agencies that may need to be notified if the spill is large enough.

For mercury spills at work, training is required (cleanup of any hazardous chemical you handle is part of your Hazard Communication or Laboratory Standard training, which you should receive from your supervisor upon first being assigned). Better yet, replace all mercury-containing devices with mercury free devices!
